Flooring Installation and Refinishing in Woodland

Woodland has some of the best older housing stock in the valley. The streets around the historic downtown hold Victorians, Queen Annes and Craftsman bungalows, most of them built with solid wood floors that are still there under whatever went over them later. On the south side, Spring Lake is new construction with a completely different set of needs.

Essential Flooring handles both. On the older homes that usually means careful refinishing rather than replacement, and on the newer ones it means installing material that will outlast what the builder chose. Either way you get a free on site estimate and a written quote with no hidden fees.

Flooring that fits Woodland

Refinishing in a hundred year old Woodland home is not the same job as refinishing in a nineties tract house. Original boards are often narrower, sometimes face nailed, and have already been sanded once or twice in their life, so the first thing to establish is how much wear layer is actually left. Rooms in these houses are also rarely square, which means transitions and thresholds need cutting to the building rather than to a standard length.

What we do for homes here

Hardwood refinishing is the center of our work in older Woodland homes: sanding, repairing damaged boards, matching a stain to the character of the house and sealing with a finish built for daily life. Where a floor is past saving, or in newer Spring Lake homes, we install hardwood, waterproof luxury vinyl plank, laminate and carpet. We fit and refinish stairs, and we handle old floor removal, carpet removal, subfloor leveling and grinding, baseboards and transitions.

Why neighbors trust us

Essential Flooring is a licensed and insured flooring contractor, California CSLB License #1117565. Free estimates, transparent written pricing, and the old material leaves with us. We photograph the floor before we start and after we finish, so what changed is a matter of record rather than memory.

Flooring in Woodland: common questions

How do we know if our historic Woodland floor can be sanded again?

We check the board thickness at a vent or a doorway and look at how much wood sits above the tongue. If there is enough left we sand; if there is not, we say so and talk about board replacement or an overlay instead of taking the risk.

Can you match a stain to the original woodwork in an older home?

Yes. We mix and test stain samples on your actual boards, not on a sample board from a catalogue, and you approve the color before the whole floor is committed to it.

Do you work in Spring Lake as well as downtown Woodland?

All of Woodland. Newer Spring Lake homes are usually a straightforward install over slab, and the estimate and site visit are free either way.
