Privacy Policy

This website is operated by Essential Flooring Inc, a licensed flooring contractor in Sacramento, California (CSLB #1117565). This page explains what the site collects, why, who handles it on our behalf, and how to ask us to show, correct or delete it. We collect the minimum needed to answer your estimate request.

The short version

• We collect what you type into the estimate form, and nothing else about you personally.
• The site sets no cookies. The one exception is the map on our home page and service areas page, which is served by Google.
• We never sell your information or pass it to advertisers.
• Email or call us and we will show you what we have, fix it, or delete it.

What we collect and why

Your estimate request

When you send the form on our contact page we receive your name, phone number, email address (optional), city, the service you are interested in and whatever you write about the project. We use these details only to get back to you, arrange a site visit and prepare your quote.

The form also records how long it was open before you pressed send, and it contains a hidden field that real visitors never see. Both exist only to filter out spam robots and tell us nothing about you.

Your IP address, in hashed form

To stop one person from flooding the form, our server counts how many requests arrive from the same internet connection within ten minutes. It does this with a one-way hash (SHA-256 with a secret key) of your IP address, so the stored value cannot be turned back into your address. The hash is stored separately from your request. We do not store the plain IP address.

Site measurement, without cookies

To see which pages people read and how fast the site loads, our own pages send a small report to our database: the page address, the domain of the site that linked you here (if any), whether you are on a phone, tablet or desktop, and a few speed measurements. The report carries a random session number that your browser keeps only until you close the tab. It is not a cookie and it is not linked to your name, phone, email or IP address. We use no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels and no social media tracking.

Hosting logs

Like every website, ours runs on servers that keep standard technical logs: the page requested, the time, your IP address and browser type. Our hosting provider keeps these for security and troubleshooting.

Who handles your information

We do not share personal information with anyone except the companies that run parts of this website for us. They process it only to provide their service to us and may not use it for their own purposes.

• Supabase stores our database, including estimate requests and the site measurements described above.
• Resend delivers each estimate request to our inbox as an email. If you gave us an email address, it is set as the reply address so that our answer goes straight to you.
• Vercel hosts the website, runs the code that receives the form, and keeps the hosting logs described above.
• Google Maps provides the map of the Sacramento area on our home page and service areas page. It loads only when it comes into view. Once it does, Google receives your IP address and the address of the page you are on, and it may set its own cookies. Whether Google uses that to build a picture of you across other websites is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours. We receive nothing from it.

Our pages also link to our Instagram, Facebook and Google profiles and offer a WhatsApp link for messaging us. Following any of these takes you off our site and onto theirs, under their own privacy terms.

No sale, no advertising

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising of any kind. Apart from Google's map, no outside party collects information about your activity on this site, and we do not allow anyone to track you over time and across other websites.

How long we keep it

Estimate requests are kept for as long as we need them to respond to you and as records of our business, for example to prepare a quote or refer back to a job we completed. If you ask us to delete your request, we remove it from our database and our inbox. Site measurements contain no personal information and are kept as statistics.

Your rights and how to use them

You can ask us at any time to:

• tell you what information we hold about you,
• correct something that is wrong,
• delete your request entirely.

We may ask you to confirm you are the person who sent the request, for example by writing from the same email address or calling from the same phone number. There is no charge, and we will not treat you any differently for asking.

Essential Flooring Inc is a small local business and does not meet the size thresholds that bring a company under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA). We honor the requests above regardless.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the page-view and speed measurement described above does not run at all. Because we do not sell or share personal information and do not track visitors across other websites, there is nothing further for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off.

Children

This site is for homeowners and property managers and is not directed to anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us a request, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the new version is posted on this page with a new effective date at the top. We do not keep visitor accounts or a mailing list, so this page is the only place changes are announced. Please check it whenever you send us a request.
